This month I kept busy by working on this blog, maintaining Where’s Sharon, enjoying a quick trip to Bendigo, working hard on my niche sites and PBN and getting ready for the massive NoHat Digital Private Training Course.
On the money front, things are coming along much the same which I was happy with as I did not seek out any opportunities this month and I made my first commissions on Amazon.
Where’s Sharon
I am still not working on growing this blog. I am maintaining it and keeping up obligations. I dropped back my posts this month to only 1 most weeks instead of usual 2 with the occasional 3.
Traffic
Page Views: 23,500
It was nice to see an increase since my posting frequency is down. I have always tried to not have a blog that relies on constant posting for traffic though, so it is great to see that this is the case.
Social Media
My social media is the same as last month, except it is rare that I post on Facebook or Instagram at the moment except when travelling. I have kept up Twitter and Pinterest since the bulk of my traffic comes from these, and I find them the easiest to utilise.
Sponsored Travel
At the moment, I am just working with the one provider over 5 months. We are doing one stay a month and the first one in September went well. We had a great time in Bendigo. I didn’t bother seeking out sponsorship for activities on this trip. Everything was reasonably cheap and I do not want to have to review experiences for minimal financial benefit even if I am going to write about it anyway. As I have learned, it takes far more time when working with sponsors than just what it takes to write up the review.
I also have some amazing accommodation lined up in Bali, both with this provider and another. It’s going to be an awesome trip!
Income
This month I made $900 through advertising. Like I said above, I was very happy with this as I did not seek out any work and the bulk of the money came from the one client who was excellent to work with.

This is a great improvement from last month. I find it easy to find that figure laughable, but at the same time, it’s getting closer to 100 page views a day which is quite amazing really as I have done very little to market this site.
However, I have been working hard improving it this month. The theme has changed – I hope you like it. I have also been making an effort to post at least once a week. I have found this tough as I have been trying to write super useful posts and these take a long time to write. I am especially proud of my complete guide to using Pinterest to drive traffic to your website and my keyword research tutorial. I have been receiving great feedback.
Niche Sites
My two niche sites that are still standing are progressing well. Unfortunately, my other site was de-indexed. My PBN is still fine, but I also put some effort into taking them up a notch after Google’s recent attacks on PBNs. However, two of the PBN sites I have bought from Jon Haver have not indexed at all. I have given up on one of them and am still hoping Google will index the other. There are no messages in webmaster tools so it is a bit strange.
Income
I was very happy to make my first commissions from my niche sites! There was one sale from each of them. One in the USA version of Amazon and one in the UK. The EasyAzon plugin that I use that changes the Amazon links to point to the appropriate Amazon site is already paying for itself.
It was only about $20 but given my current traffic, I am happy to see anything. It helps me feel like I am moving in the right direction.
Authority Sites
This is a new category for this month and is based on the sites I am building as part of the NoHat Digital Private Training Course which I started at the end of September.
Last month, I mentioned doing the NoHat internship. I ended up changing my mind to the private training course as it just seemed ideally suited to what I was trying to achieve. It is not cheap at $2000, but I think it is a bargain so far and I am learning a lot.
I think I am very lucky to have started this course straight after the PBN Google attack as the course focus has shifted to building authority sites, rather than niche sites, and how to best go about that without using PBN’s. I am building two sites as part of this and I will track their income progress here. Stay tuned for more information about this coming soon.
Gambling Product
Business continued as usual and J made $500.
Earnings Total: $1420 + sponsored weekend away
Up $240 from August.
Plans for Next Month
I am very focused on my course and building my new authority sites at the moment. I am trying to keep up with this blog and Where’s Sharon, but I am not going to be posting much. I am also trying to keep up some link building and a little bit of content creation for my niche sites.
J is working on my PBN, but that is not going very well and I am struggling to find a good solution of how to keep on top of everything on my plate at the moment.
I am very excited about what the next month will bring and the progress I will make on my niche and authority sites.
